How it works – from first message to moving day

Most of our English-speaking clients have moved before, just not in Germany. The process with us is simple and transparent:

1. Get in touch. Send us a message through the contact form or call 030 612 964 73. Tell us both addresses, the size of your flat, the floor and your preferred date.
2. Survey. For larger moves we offer a free on-site survey. For smaller moves, a list of rooms and a few photos are often enough.
3. Fixed-price quote. You receive a binding fixed-price quote in writing. What is included is listed clearly, so there are no surprises on the day.
4. Preparation. We arrange the no-parking zone, deliver boxes if you need them and agree on the timing with you.
5. Moving day. Our team protects furniture and floors, loads the truck, transports everything and sets up the furniture again in your new home.

What does a moving company in Berlin cost?

The price of a move depends on the volume of your belongings, the floors and walking distances at both addresses, the distance between them and the extra services you choose. The following ranges are guide values for moves within Berlin. Your final price is set in your individual fixed-price quote.

For smaller jobs we also work by the hour: two movers with a truck cost about 60–90 € per hour, three movers with a truck about 80–120 € per hour, plus a travel fee of 30–80 € and a minimum booking of two to three hours. Parking permit: the Halteverbotszone

Parking spaces in Berlin are rare, especially in inner-city districts like Mitte, Kreuzberg, Friedrichshain or Prenzlauer Berg. If the truck has to park far away or in the second row, every box has to be carried further, which costs time and money. Moreover, parking in the second row can lead to fines.

The solution is a temporary no-parking zone, called Halteverbotszone. It has to be applied for at the responsible district office and the signs have to be put up several days before the move, so please plan ahead. We take care of the application and the signs for you. Registering your address (Anmeldung)

Anyone who moves into a flat in Germany has to register the new address. As a rule, this has to be done within two weeks of moving in. In Berlin, you register at a Bürgeramt (citizens‘ office); appointments can be booked online via the city’s service portal. You can go to any Bürgeramt in Berlin, not only the one in your district.

For the appointment you usually need your passport or ID card, the registration form and the Wohnungsgeberbestätigung, a confirmation from your landlord that you have moved in. Ask your landlord for this document when you sign the lease or at the latest at the handover. The registration certificate (Meldebescheinigung) you receive is important for many other steps, for example opening a bank account or receiving your tax ID.

If you are leaving Germany, you usually have to deregister (Abmeldung) as well. Please check the current requirements with the authorities, because rules can change.

International moves to and from Berlin

Many of our international clients do not just move within the city. They come to Berlin from another country or return home after a few years. We organise international moves from Berlin to many European countries, for example the Netherlands, France, Spain, Poland, Austria, Switzerland or the United Kingdom.

For moves within the EU, no customs formalities are usually required for household goods. For countries outside the EU, such as Switzerland or the UK, customs documents and an inventory list are needed. We will tell you which papers are required for your route and help you prepare them. Please plan international moves well in advance, ideally several weeks before your moving date.

Packing and moving boxes

Packing takes more time than most people expect. If you are still working full-time or travelling between two countries, our packing service can save you a lot of stress. Our team packs dishes, books, clothes and fragile items safely and labels the boxes by room, so unpacking in the new home goes faster.

You can also pack yourself and simply order the material from us. Moving boxes cost about 2–5 € each to buy or 1–3 € per week to rent. Wardrobe boxes, in which clothes stay on their hangers, cost about 5–10 € each. Our packing service is charged at about 20–40 € per hour and helper.
