Your move in Steglitz — personal and professional

Why local experience matters

Steglitz has its own street layouts, narrow stairwells and particular stopping conditions. We know the typical local challenges and plan so that potential bottlenecks are avoided early on. This local knowledge reduces stress on moving day and ensures that furniture and transport are organised with foresight.

Individual planning for every living situation

Every move starts with a personal conversation in which you tell us your priorities. We clarify which furniture stays, which items need special protection and what the access conditions are. On this basis we draw up a clear schedule that responds flexibly to changes and respects your timetable.

How your move works in practice

  1. On-site survey to record rooms, stairs and special dimensions.
  2. Agreeing the moving plan with you – tasks, time slots, access.
  3. Careful packing, labelling and protection of delicate furniture.
  4. Safe transport with suitable equipment and considerate load planning.
  5. Setting up and handover at the destination, with the most important areas put in order.

Careful packing and furniture handling

We use suitable materials and proven techniques to keep your furnishings protected. Fragile items are packed separately, and large pieces are professionally dismantled if necessary and reassembled at the new address. Careful handling reduces the risk of damage and makes it easier for you to settle into your new home.

Transparent communication and additional services

From the start you have clear contact persons and an easy-to-follow schedule. During preparation we discuss all steps and keep you informed of any changes. In addition to transport, we help with packing, dismantling and assembling furniture and, on request, with disposing of furnishings you no longer need or arranging suitable tradespeople.

Moving company Berlin Steglitz – around Schloßstraße, Lankwitz and Südende

Steglitz is a lively district in the south-west, with Schloßstraße as one of Berlin’s major shopping streets. Around it are residential streets with period buildings, post-war buildings and smaller housing estates, and further south in Lankwitz and Südende also many detached and two-family houses. This mix of shopping street and quiet residential area also shapes the moves we handle here.

Schloßstraße and surroundings

Around Schloßstraße, Hermann-Ehlers-Platz and Rathaus Steglitz station, traffic is dense and there are lots of deliveries. Flats in the side streets are often in period buildings with three to five floors and no lift. A no-parking zone almost always makes sense here so that the van does not have to double-park.

Lankwitz and Südende: houses and small apartment buildings

Further south it gets quieter. Here we often deal with terraced houses, semi-detached houses and smaller apartment buildings with gardens. Access is usually easy, but there are cellars, attics and garages to add. We record everything during the survey so that the volume is right.

Post-war housing estates

In many parts of Steglitz there are housing estates from the 1950s to the 1970s, some with lifts, some without. The stairwells are straightforward, but the flats are compact. Furniture from a large period flat does not always fit here – measure the new rooms beforehand.

Costs and money-saving tips

The price depends on volume, floor, lift, carrying distances and route. From Steglitz, most destinations in the south-west are close together, while journeys to the east of the city take longer. You can save by decluttering, packing boxes yourself and booking a weekday. If you are only moving a few pieces of furniture, a small transport is a good choice.

A word about getting here: Steglitz is well connected via the A103 and the city motorway. At peak times, however, traffic at the Steglitzer Kreisel and on Schloßstraße can be slow – we plan accordingly.

As a moving company in Berlin Steglitz, we also work in Lichterfelde and Zehlendorf. Guide prices can be found on the page Moving Company Berlin Costs.

If you are moving to Dahlem or clearing a house there, you will find information under Moving Company Berlin Dahlem.

Steglitz between the Botanical Garden and the Teltow Canal

Steglitz is more than Schloßstraße. To the north the district borders Friedenau and Schöneberg, to the south Lichterfelde and Lankwitz, and to the west Dahlem with the Botanical Garden. The Teltow Canal runs through the south of the district. This location makes Steglitz a place where many different types of housing come together.

Around the Botanical Garden

In the streets around the Botanical Garden there are many villas and large apartment buildings from the Gründerzeit era. The flats are spacious, and many residents have lived there for decades. Moving out of such a flat is often a big project with lots of household goods, books, pictures and antiques. We plan enough time and staff and work with high-quality packing materials.

Along the Teltow Canal

Along the Teltow Canal in Lankwitz and southern Steglitz there are housing estates, small businesses and houses with gardens. Some of the bridges over the canal are narrow or have weight restrictions. We plan the route so that the removal van reaches its destination without detours. For a move across the canal, we check beforehand which bridge is suitable for our van.

Bierpinsel, Kreisel and traffic

The area around the Bierpinsel, the Kreisel and Rathaus Steglitz is a traffic hub. Schloßstraße, Schildhornstraße and several bus routes meet here. A removal van cannot simply stop there. If your flat is in this area, we apply for a no-parking zone in a side street and carry the last few metres. This is sometimes a little more effort, but it is the only way that works without obstructing traffic.

Senior moves in Steglitz

Steglitz has a high proportion of older residents. Many move within the district to a smaller flat or a senior residence. For these moves we take particular care and time, help with decluttering and set up the furniture so that the new flat is immediately ready to live in. Relatives who do not live locally can rely on dependable coordination with us. You can find out more under Senior Moves in Berlin.

For all moves in Steglitz: the combination of large flats, heavy traffic and few parking spaces requires good preparation. The earlier you contact us, the more relaxed moving day will be.

Steglitz-Süd and Lankwitz-Kirche

Around Lankwitz-Kirche and in southern Steglitz there are small apartment buildings with three or four floors and semi-detached houses. The streets are quieter than in central Steglitz, and there is usually a space for the removal van near the front door. A no-parking zone is mainly worthwhile here when many residents are at home in the evenings and at weekends and the street is fully parked. We discuss this during the survey.

Anyone moving from Steglitz to Zehlendorf, Dahlem or Lichterfelde stays within the borough and has short distances. We usually complete such moves in one day, including assembly of the most important furniture.

FAQ – Frequently Asked Questions

How can I best prepare for moving day?

Label boxes by room and contents, make a list of priority items and keep access routes in the flat and stairwell clear. Also prepare an area where delicate furniture can be put down temporarily. These measures help make the move more structured and faster.

What should I keep to hand on moving day?

Keep a bag with important documents, chargers, medication and basic tools ready. Bedding, a toiletry bag and a small set of cleaning products are also useful for the first hours in the new flat. That way you have the essentials quickly to hand and can start more relaxed.

How much does a move in Berlin-Steglitz cost?

In Steglitz and Lichterfelde, period flats, post-war buildings and detached houses alternate. Costs arise from volume, floor and additional services. An overview is provided under Moving Company Berlin Costs.

Do I need a no-parking zone in Steglitz?

On Schloßstraße and in the side streets almost always, because there is a lot of shopping traffic there. In Lankwitz or Lichterfelde-West there are often driveways. We apply for the zone if needed – see Parking Restriction Berlin.

How early should I book my move in Steglitz?

Four to eight weeks is ideal for Steglitz, and rather six to eight for a house move. Short-notice dates are often possible depending on availability.

How are my belongings insured during a move in Steglitz?

Statutory liability for moves is 620 euros per cubic metre of loading space (Section 451e of the German Commercial Code, HGB). For musical instruments or expensive technology, this amount is often not enough – additional insurance then makes sense.

How do I get a quote for my move in Steglitz?

The easiest way is via the contact form; if you prefer to talk, call 030 612 964 73. In Steglitz and Lichterfelde we usually carry out the survey within a few days.
