How a 3-man team works on moving day
In the morning, the team leader gets an overview with you: which rooms, which furniture, what is fragile, what should be in the new flat first? Then the team splits up. One dismantles furniture, two carry. In the truck, the load is stacked so that it is secure and comes out in the right order at the destination. At the destination it works the other way round: first the heavy furniture goes into the rooms, then the boxes, and finally everything is assembled.
The size of the truck
For a two- to three-room flat, a medium-sized truck is usually enough. For larger flats a bigger vehicle or a second trip may be necessary. We decide on the vehicle size during the on-site survey so that everything fits in one go, if possible.
More than one day?
Most moves with a 3-man team are completed in one day. For very large flats, difficult access or additional kitchen installation, a second day may make sense. We discuss this openly in advance so that there are no surprises on moving day.
A day with the 3-man team: roles and processes
Three people are the right size for many Berlin moves. They are fast enough for a two- to three-room flat and small enough that nobody is left waiting in the stairwell. For this to work, everyone in the team has their own task.
Who does what?
One person usually stays in the flat. They dismantle furniture, secure wardrobes and get the next items ready. Two people carry between the flat and the truck. At the vehicle, one of them takes care of loading, because stacking correctly determines whether everything fits in and nothing slips on the way. The roles change during the day so that the workload is evenly distributed.
Heavy items
A sofa, a large fridge or a washing machine needs two people, sometimes three. With three people, the team can carry such items without the work in the flat coming to a standstill. Straps and carrying aids ensure that the weight is distributed correctly. For very heavy individual items such as pianos or safes, we plan additional help.
The truck sets the pace
A 3.5 or 7.5-tonne truck suits most flats. If it is parked right outside the door, the distances are short and the team works at an even pace. If it has to park further away, every trip takes longer. That is why a no-parking zone almost always makes sense for a 3-man move. It often has more influence on the duration than the number of boxes.
When a fourth pair of hands helps
For large flats, lots of furniture that needs to be dismantled or very long distances, a fourth person can speed up the work. For very small moves, two are sometimes enough. We discuss with you in advance which team size is right and explain why. For very small jobs there is our mini move.
Your role on moving day
You do not have to help carry. It is helpful if you give a short tour of the flat at the start, show what is fragile and say where things go at the destination. If you can be reached in between, questions are answered quickly. At the end, we walk through the empty flat together so that nothing is forgotten.
From loading to assembly
After loading, one person drives the truck and the others ride along. At the destination the order is reversed: first the large furniture into the rooms, then the boxes according to their labels, and finally the assembly. Beds first, then wardrobes, then everything else. That way you can sleep on the first evening.
