Convenient packing service in Berlin for a stress-free move

A move is more than just lugging boxes: it is about organisation, protection and saving time. Senior move in Berlin: gently and safely into a new home – Lion Umzüge

Individual on-site consultation

During a survey, we talk about delicate items, special packing requests and the order of the work. You decide which areas or individual items we take care of. This way there are no surprises and the preparation is efficient.

Professional packing materials

We choose suitable materials for every item: sturdy boxes, padding materials and special covers for delicate surfaces. The selection is matched to shape and weight so that nothing slips or gets damaged during transport.

How the packing service works

So that you know what to expect, we work according to a clear process. These steps ensure structure and a clear overview throughout the entire packing process.

  1. Scheduling and survey: clarifying the scope and any special requirements.
  2. Provision of materials: supplying all the necessary packing materials on site.
  3. Packing: careful packing, padding and sealing of the boxes.
  4. Labelling: numbering and room labelling for easy allocation.
  5. Handover: making the fully packed units ready for further use or transport.

Gentle handling of delicate items

We treat particularly fragile or delicate objects with special care. Custom padding, additional protective layers and sensible placement in the boxes minimise the risk of damage.

Flexible support to suit your needs

Whether you only want individual cupboards and kitchen utensils packed or want to hand over the complete preparation of your household: we adapt the service to your time budget and your priorities. Optionally, we also pack files and books if you want to save time.

Organisation and transparency

Throughout the entire process, we document the progress on request and draw up a simple inventory list. This makes it easier to find things again after the move and ensures clear responsibilities when unloading and putting things away.

Sustainable packing options

On request, we use reusable or recyclable materials where it makes sense. This allows protection and sustainability to be combined without compromising the safety of your belongings.

Packing service: exactly what we pack for you

Packing is the part of a move that takes the most time. For a three-room flat, many people need several evenings or a whole weekend. Our packing service takes this work off your hands – completely or just for individual rooms. As a rule, we pack on the day before the move, and for large flats also two days beforehand.

Complete or partial

Option What we take care of
Complete packing service All rooms, including cupboards, kitchen and cellar
Kitchen packing service Crockery, glasses, supplies, small appliances – the most time-consuming room
Fragile items Glass, porcelain, pictures, mirrors, decorations
Unpacking service Unpacking and putting things away at the destination, taking the packing material away

How we pack

Plates stand on their edge, glasses are wrapped individually, heavy items go into small boxes and light items into large ones. Every box is labelled with the destination room and contents. We transport clothes from the wardrobe hanging in wardrobe boxes. Pictures and mirrors get their own boxes or padding. You pack your valuables, documents and medication yourself and take them with you personally.

Discretion

Whoever packs sees a lot of your private life. Our staff naturally treat this with discretion. If certain cupboards or drawers are off-limits, just tell us; they will then remain for you to deal with.

Who benefits most from the packing service

Working people with little time, families with small children, older people and anyone moving from far away who only arrives for moving day. For older customers, we also offer our senior move service.

Material and costs

We bring boxes, paper and padding material with us. Find out more under Moving Boxes Berlin. The price depends on the quantity and effort involved and is listed as a separate item in your fixed-price quote. General information on costs can be found under Moving Company Berlin Costs.

Room by room: what matters when packing

Kitchen

The kitchen is the most time-consuming room. Plates, bowls and glasses are individually wrapped in paper, knives secured and supplies tightly sealed. We pack liquids such as oil or vinegar upright and separately. Anything you still need until moving day stays out until the very end.

Living room and study

Books go into small boxes so that they stay portable. We pack electronics such as televisions, speakers or games consoles with padding, and cables go labelled into a separate bag. Pictures and mirrors get their own boxes or corner protectors and blankets.

Bedroom and wardrobe

We transport clothes from the wardrobe hanging in wardrobe boxes. This way they arrive crease-free and can go straight back into the wardrobe. Bed linen and towels are suitable as padding material for other boxes.

Cellar and storeroom

The cellar often contains things that are dirty or heavy: tools, paint, supplies, seasonal items. We pack them separately from the rest so that nothing gets dirty. Anything that is no longer needed can be disposed of straight away on request.

Packing with professionals: what you should decide beforehand

When you book our packing service, we take a lot of work off your hands. However, there are a few decisions we cannot make for you, because they are your belongings and your new home. The more clearly these points are settled in advance, the faster and more calmly packing day will go.

What is not coming along

We pack everything that is in the flat unless you tell us otherwise. That is why it is worth sorting things out beforehand. Put anything that is to be given away, sold or disposed of in a separate room or mark it clearly, for example with coloured tape. That way the old mattress does not accidentally end up in the lorry. Place items that you will transport yourself, such as documents, jewellery, laptop and medication, in a cupboard that you lock or mark with a note.

Where in the new flat?

Every box is labelled by us with its destination room. For this, we need a brief allocation at the start: which room in the old flat becomes which in the new one? If the layout changes, for example because the study becomes a children’s room, let us know. A simple floor plan of the new flat with room names helps a great deal when putting things away.

Keep the order or re-sort?

Some customers want everything put back exactly as it was: books in the same order, crockery in the same cupboard compartment. Others use the move to re-sort. Both are possible. For the former, we pack shelf by shelf and number the boxes consecutively. For the latter, we pack by category so that you can decide later at your leisure.

One packing day or two

We usually pack a small flat in one day, often on the day before the move. For larger flats or houses, we spread the packing over two or more days. We then first pack the rooms you no longer need before the move, and the kitchen and bathroom last. This keeps the flat habitable until the end.

An occupied flat, everyday life carrying on

You do not have to be present the whole time on packing day. Many customers go to work and are only there at the beginning and the end. What matters is that someone answers any open questions at the start and walks through the flat briefly at the end. If there are children or pets in the flat, we plan the work so that places to retreat to remain untouched for as long as possible.

Unpacking as an addition

Unpacking is just as time-consuming as packing, but is often forgotten. At the destination, we can open boxes, put crockery into the kitchen cupboards, place books on the shelves and take the packing material away. If you want to get back to work quickly after the move or receive guests, this saves you several evenings. Tell us in advance which rooms we should unpack and which you would like to arrange yourself.

Tip: if you would like to start yourself with our material first, you will find advice on sizes and quantities in our overview of moving boxes in Berlin.

FAQ - Frequently Asked Questions

What preparations should I make?

Please prepare personal documents and easily accessible items that you will need on moving day. We take care of everything else: from the right material to clear labelling of the boxes.

Can I exclude individual rooms from your packing service?

Yes. You decide which areas we pack. Many customers opt for a combined solution: we pack delicate or time-consuming areas, and you take care of the rest.

What does the packing service in Berlin cost?

The packing service is charged according to time and material. Whether we only pack the kitchen and glasses or the entire household makes the biggest difference. After the survey, you will receive a fixed price. You can see what a complete move costs on the page Moving Company Berlin Costs.

What is included in the packing service from Lion Umzüge?

We bring boxes, paper and bubble wrap, pack room by room, label each box with its contents and destination room, and pad fragile items individually. On request, we also unpack again in the new flat.

How soon can I get a date for the packing service?

We usually schedule the packing service for the day before the move or for moving day itself, so the lead time for the move usually applies. Packing only, without transport, can often be arranged within a week.

Can I combine several services with the packing service?

Yes. The packing service is usually part of a move for which you can also book an assembly service, house clearance and storage.

How are my belongings insured with the packing service?

If we do the packing ourselves, we know how the boxes are packed – this helps in the event of damage. We are liable under the German Commercial Code (HGB), usually at 620 euros per cubic metre of load space. For particularly valuable porcelain or art, we recommend additional insurance.
