Your furniture transport in Berlin — personally organised
Why a specialised furniture transport makes sense
Large wardrobes, delicate upholstered furniture or heavy individual pieces require special care. A specialised transport prevents damage to furniture and living space and reduces the risk of delays on moving day.
Our planning — individual and transparent
Before every transport, we clarify your wishes, check the access conditions on site and discuss any special requirements. This results in clear processes that can be flexibly adapted to changing circumstances.
How your furniture transport works
We work in a structured way so that everything runs smoothly on the day of the transport. The following steps are typical of our approach:
- Advice and inventory by phone or on site, including a check of stairs, lift and access;
- Coordination of the transport and scheduling with a clear process;
- Secure packing and protection of delicate surfaces, if required;
- Careful loading, safe transport and targeted unloading right to where the furniture will stand;
- Final review on site, so that you know at all times that everything is in order.
Safe handling of delicate furniture
We use suitable protective materials and carrying aids to avoid scratches, dents or breakages. Glass, lacquered surfaces and antique pieces are handled with particular care.

Service for special requirements
Narrow stairwells, tight bends or lifts with limited capacity call for creative solutions. On request, we take care of dismantling and reassembling complex pieces of furniture so that everything arrives in its place.
Transparent communication and support
You receive all relevant information about the process in advance. On the day of the transport, clear contact persons are available to resolve short-notice changes in a coordinated way and to adjust the schedule.
When a furniture transport is the right choice
Not every transport is a full move. Often it is about a single item: the sofa bought online that has to be collected from the seller in Spandau, grandmother’s wardrobe that is going to Pankow, or the dining table that no longer fits in the new flat and is going to the children in Lichtenberg. For jobs like these, you do not need a large removal van, but a suitable vehicle, two experienced carriers and tools.
Typical jobs
| Job | What we bring |
|---|---|
| Sofa or three-piece suite | Blankets, film, straps, tools for feet and armrests if needed |
| Wardrobe | Tools for dismantling and assembly, padded blankets |
| Classified-ad collection | Transport from the seller to you, carrying into your flat |
| Antiques and heirlooms | Extra padding, edge protection |
| Furniture into storage | Transport to your storage unit or to our storage |
Stairs, courtyards and narrow hallways
In Berlin, the problem is rarely the route along the street, but the way into the building. Many period flats are located in a side wing or rear building, reached through a passageway, a courtyard and a narrow stairwell. A large corner sofa sometimes has to be dismantled or carried upright there. So measure the narrowest point in the stairwell and the flat door beforehand. If a piece does not fit, we will tell you honestly – before we try to force it.
Assembly included
Many pieces of furniture can only be transported dismantled. We take them apart, transport them and reassemble them at the destination. If you would like new furniture assembled, you will find information under Assembly service Berlin.
Price
A furniture transport within Berlin is calculated according to the effort involved: vehicle, number of carriers, floors and assembly. Because the jobs are often small, you usually receive a fixed price on the basis of photos alone. You can read more about small transports under Small transport Berlin and about general cost factors under Moving company Berlin costs.
Preparing furniture properly
The better a piece of furniture is prepared, the faster and safer the transport. Wardrobes should be empty, and so should drawers – or secured with tape if they only contain a little. It is best to remove glass shelves and glass doors yourself or have us remove them and pack them separately. Loose parts such as handles, screws and fittings go into a labelled bag that is attached to the piece of furniture.
Delicate surfaces
High-gloss fronts, lacquered surfaces and solid wood scratch easily. We wrap such furniture first in blankets and then in film so that nothing rubs. We additionally protect edges and corners. Upholstered furniture is given a protective film so that it arrives clean – an important point, especially when it rains.
Transport from the furniture store
New furniture often comes in large, heavy boxes. We collect it from the furniture store or warehouse, carry it into your flat and assemble it on request. We take the packaging away on request. Have the collection slip and the order number ready so that the collection goes quickly.
Single items between two cities
Furniture transports beyond Berlin are also possible, for example when an heirloom needs to be collected from another city. For longer distances, a part load can be the cheaper solution, because your piece of furniture travels along on a tour that is already planned.
Special furniture, special care
Not every piece of furniture can simply be wrapped in blankets and put on the lorry. Some pieces need more planning because they are heavy, fragile or simply irreplaceable. Here we describe what we pay attention to with such jobs and what you should clarify in advance.
Antiques and heirlooms
Old chests of drawers, secretaries or farmhouse cupboards are often made of solid wood, but their joints are delicate. Glue from earlier decades becomes brittle over time, veneers come loose at the edges and drawers no longer sit quite firmly. We take out drawers and loose parts and transport them separately. We secure doors so that they cannot open during the journey. For very valuable pieces, we recommend taking photos of their condition beforehand. This helps you and us if questions arise later.
Display cabinets, glass and mirrors
We remove glass shelves and glass doors if this is possible without tools and pack them individually in boxes or frames. Large mirrors are transported upright and well padded, never lying flat. Tell us beforehand whether a display cabinet has lighting. Cables and transformers then also need to be secured.
Box-spring beds and mattresses
Box-spring beds are heavier than many people think. The bases can usually be dismantled, the mattresses cannot. We protect mattresses with covers so that they stay clean and no dust from the stairwell gets into them. If the bed is to be reassembled, we agree in advance where it will stand in the new bedroom.
Collecting furniture from classified ads
Many Berliners buy second-hand furniture privately and just need someone to collect the piece. A few things are important here. Clarify with the seller whether the furniture has already been dismantled or whether we should take it apart. Ask about the floor, lift and width of the stairwell. Measure at home whether the piece will fit through the door and hallway. And arrange for someone to be on site when we arrive. For single items without dismantling, a small transport is often the right solution.
Temporary furniture storage
Sometimes the new flat is not yet available or is being renovated. In that case, we first take the furniture into storage and later to the new address. We note which pieces belong together and pack screws and fittings into labelled bags that are attached to the respective piece of furniture. That way nothing gets lost, even after a few weeks.
What you should tell us in advance
The more precisely we know what is being transported, the better we can plan. Tell us the number of pieces, approximate dimensions, the floor at both addresses and whether there is a lift. Photos help a lot. If you are unsure whether a piece of furniture can be dismantled, send us a picture of the back or the joints. Then we can estimate how much time we need and which tools to bring.

FAQ – Frequently Asked Questions
Can I have individual pieces of furniture transported?
Yes. We plan the transport flexibly – whether a single wardrobe, a sofa or several pieces. The service is based on your specific needs.
Do you offer packaging and protective material?
Gladly. On request, we provide suitable packaging, padding and blankets and pack delicate items professionally so that the transport is a success.
How much does a furniture transport in Berlin cost?
For a furniture transport, what counts is the number and size of the pieces, the floors at both addresses and whether we need to dismantle furniture. A single sofa therefore costs less than an entire living-room set. You receive a fixed price in advance. More guide values under Moving company Berlin costs.
What is included in a furniture transport with Lion Umzüge?
We collect your furniture, protect it with blankets and film, carry it through the stairwell, secure it in the van with straps and set it up at the destination where it belongs. On request, we also take care of dismantling and reassembly.
How soon can I get an appointment for a furniture transport?
For single pieces of furniture, we can often find an appointment within a week, sometimes even sooner. For larger transports at the end of the month, you should allow two to three weeks’ notice.
Can I combine several services with a furniture transport?
Yes. With a furniture transport, you can add packing service, assembly service, clearance of old furniture and storage – for example if a wardrobe temporarily does not fit into the new flat.
How are my belongings insured during a furniture transport?
During a furniture transport, your household goods are covered by statutory liability, which amounts to 620 euros per cubic metre of load volume. For antiques, designer pieces or high-value solid wood furniture, additional insurance is advisable.
