Your stress-free move in Berlin-Mitte

Personal advice on site

At a no-obligation appointment, we look at the access routes and conditions together with you. This allows us to identify special features early on and suggest concrete solutions that suit your situation.

Planning and process

A structured process reduces surprises on moving day. We draw up a clear list of tasks, coordinate dates and discuss which services you would like.

  • Initial consultation: recording your wishes and requirements
  • Survey: assessment of access routes, stairs and special features
  • Individual planning: materials, packing and vehicle requirements
  • Scheduling: the process on moving day and your contact person
  • Execution: packing, transport, setting up
  • Completion: joint check with you and a final review

Careful packing and protection

We treat delicate furniture and fragile items with particular care. Every piece is suitably protected, labelled and packed so that it can be transported safely.

Safe transport in the city

Within Berlin, short journeys and tight stopping zones are part of everyday life. We plan the approach so that the work stays efficient and your belongings reach their destination quickly and safely.

Assembly, setting up and handover

On request, we professionally dismantle and reassemble your furniture and help you set up your new home. Before the handover, we check together that everything is clean, complete and in its place.

Moving company Berlin Mitte – between period buildings, prefab blocks and new builds

Hardly any district is as mixed as Mitte. In the Spandauer Vorstadt and around Torstraße there are renovated period buildings, on Leipziger Straße and on the Fischerinsel there are residential tower blocks from GDR times, and then there are new townhouses and apartment complexes. For us this means that every move in Mitte is planned individually, because conditions sometimes change from street to street.

High-rise buildings with lifts – and what to bear in mind

The large residential buildings do have lifts, but they are often narrow and used by many tenants at the same time. We therefore ask the property management in advance whether the lift can be reserved for the move or lined with protective mats. We measure bulky furniture such as corner sofas or tall wardrobes during the survey so that nothing gets stuck in the lift on moving day.

Traffic, tourists and trams

Between Alexanderplatz, Hackescher Markt and Friedrichstraße there is a lot going on during the day: delivery traffic, coaches, cyclists and trams. Where there are tram tracks in the street, the removal van must be positioned so that the tram can pass unhindered. A no-parking zone therefore almost always makes sense in Mitte. We are also happy to schedule early in the morning, when the streets are still emptier.

Who moves with us in Mitte

  • Professionals moving to Mitte because their workplace and stations are close by
  • Families moving from a small two-room flat to a larger flat on the outskirts
  • Offices, agencies and practices relocating within Mitte – our office move service helps here
  • Newcomers to Berlin arriving from another city and moving into a furnished flat

Short distances, but precise time windows

Many moves in Mitte are short distances, for example from Brunnenstraße to Invalidenstraße. The real work lies in the carrying, the staircase and the coordination with property management and neighbours. We protect surfaces in the hallway, keep escape routes clear and take our material away again at the end. This keeps relations with your new neighbours relaxed from day one.

As a moving company in Berlin Mitte, we also know the neighbouring Kieze. If you are moving to Wedding or Friedrichshain, much of what is said here applies just the same. Guide prices for different flat sizes can be found on our Moving Company Berlin Costs page.

Timeline for a move in Mitte

When What needs doing
6–8 weeks before Survey and quote, clarify lift use with the property management
3–4 weeks before Apply for a no-parking zone, have boxes and packing material delivered
1 week before Pack rarely used items, organise parking permits and keys
Moving day Early start, protection of lift and hallway, transport and assembly

An early start is particularly worthwhile in Mitte: before nine o’clock the streets around Rosenthaler Platz and Torstraße are noticeably quieter, and the loading time in front of the building is shorter. If you are moving out of a high-rise, we also build in a buffer for waiting times at the lift – better half an hour in reserve than a team standing around in the corridor.

The most common pitfalls when moving in Mitte

Many new builds in Mitte have underground car parks with low entrance heights – a removal lorry will not fit in. Then loading has to take place in front of the building, and that requires a free space. Just as common: house rules that only allow moves at certain times, or concierge services that want to be informed in advance. We ask about such rules when planning and adjust the schedule accordingly. Anyone moving out of a furnished apartment should also record exactly which furniture belongs to the landlord – otherwise a stranger’s chair ends up in your new home.

The Tiergarten locality also belongs to the Mitte district. What to bear in mind there because of events and road closures can be found under Moving Company Berlin Tiergarten.

Moving in Mitte when the building never rests

In hardly any other district are the surroundings of a move as lively as in Mitte. The tram runs past the front door, a café is open on the ground floor, and people are out on the pavement from morning to night. For us, working quickly and considerately in this environment is part of the craft, without your belongings standing around on the pavement.

Organising the loading zone properly

In Mitte we load with fixed roles: one person always stays at the van, secures the load and keeps the passage clear for pedestrians. Boxes are not stacked on the pavement but loaded directly. We only carry long items such as sofas or wall units outside once the space for them has been prepared in the van. This shortens the time your possessions stand openly on the street and avoids trouble with passers-by and businesses in the building.

House rules, concierge and quiet hours

Many newer residential buildings around Chausseestraße, on the banks of the Spree or on Heidestraße have a property management that wants moves to be registered in advance. Some require the lift to be lined with protective mats, others set fixed time windows. Clarify these rules early and pass them on to us. We bring lift protection and floor coverings and set the schedule according to the building’s requirements. In older buildings in the Spandauer Vorstadt, on the other hand, usually only the normal house rules apply, but the staircase is narrower.

Small flat, big furniture

In Mitte in particular, many people move into compact apartments. A box-spring bed or a corner sofa that still had room in the old flat may then no longer fit through the hallway or round the corner. Measure door widths, hallway corners and the lift car in advance. We dismantle whatever can be dismantled and tell you honestly if a piece of furniture will not make it into the new flat. For individual items that have no space for the time being, an interim solution via storage in Berlin is an option until you have decided what to do with them.

Working from home during moving week

Many of our customers in Mitte work from home and cannot afford a whole day without internet. Pack your laptop, chargers, router and the most important documents in a separate bag that you transport yourself. Ask your internet provider in good time about the switchover date for the new address, as activation often takes longer than expected.

FAQ – Frequently Asked Questions

How does the survey work and what is clarified?

During the survey, we look at access routes, staircases and possible parking spaces for vehicles. This allows materials, equipment and the process on moving day to be planned precisely.

What preparations can I make myself?

Small things such as sorting personal belongings, labelling boxes and bundling cables make the process easier. You are welcome to mark valuable or particularly delicate items separately or discuss them with us in advance.

How much does a move in Berlin-Mitte cost?

For moves in Mitte, floor, lift and access play the biggest role: a period building in the Spandauer Vorstadt without a lift takes more time than a high-rise on the Fischerinsel with a lift. Moving Company Berlin Costs gives an initial overview.

Do I need a no-parking zone in Mitte?

In Mitte, practically always – between delivery traffic, tourist coaches and building sites there is otherwise no room for the lorry. We apply for the space and take care of the signs. More on this under No-Parking Zone Berlin.

How early should I book my move in Mitte?

In Mitte, allow four to eight weeks’ lead time. Especially in streets with delivery zones or building sites, the permit sometimes takes a little longer. However, we also allocate free weekdays at short notice.

How are my belongings insured during a move in Mitte?

Under the German Commercial Code (HGB), we are liable in principle for up to 620 euros per cubic metre of load space. Anyone in Mitte having designer furniture, technology or works of art transported should consider additional transport insurance.

How do I get a quote for my move in Mitte?

Write to us via the contact form or call us on 030 612 964 73. For Mitte, we will clarify straight away whether the lift, inner courtyard or underground car park can be used.
