Moving Berlin–Wiesbaden: to the state capital of Hesse
Wiesbaden is around 570 kilometres from Berlin, on the Rhine and at the foot of the Taunus. The journey usually runs via the A9 and A4 or via Kassel and Frankfurt. For a removal lorry, that is a long stage, which we always spread over two days. On the first day we load in Berlin, on the second we unload in Wiesbaden and set up.
Living in Wiesbaden
Wiesbaden is known for its many well-preserved Gründerzeit and Art Nouveau buildings. In the Westend, the Rheingauviertel and around the city centre there are period buildings with high ceilings, large rooms and often no lift. On the edge of the city and in suburbs such as Biebrich, Dotzheim or Bierstadt there are apartment buildings, terraced houses and new builds. Some streets towards the Taunus have noticeable gradients. During planning, we clarify where the lorry can stop and how long the carrying route is.
Large period flat, large furniture
Wiesbaden’s period flats often contain large wardrobes, heavy tables or a grand piano. Pieces like these need more carriers, more padding and sometimes special equipment. Let us know, and we will plan for it from the start. For pianos and grand pianos, there is our own piano transport.
From the big city to the spa town
Many people who move from Berlin to Wiesbaden are switching to quieter surroundings, often in retirement or when starting a family. If households are downsized in the process, we also help with disposing of furniture that is not coming along. More on the pages senior move Berlin and house clearance Berlin.

Costs
You can find an overview of the cost factors under moving company Berlin costs. We give you the exact price for your move as a fixed price after the survey.
Wiesbaden and Mainz
Wiesbaden and Mainz lie side by side, separated only by the Rhine. Many people who work in one of the two cities live in the other. For a move from Berlin, the distance is almost the same. The only important thing is to apply for the parking restriction zone with the right city – Mainz belongs to Rhineland-Palatinate, Wiesbaden to Hesse.
Flat handover in Berlin
Arrange the handover date for your Berlin flat so that it falls after loading. We clear everything out on the first day; afterwards you can hand over the flat at your leisure.
Wiesbaden: moving to the state capital of Hesse
Wiesbaden lies on the Rhine, opposite Mainz, and is known for its thermal springs, Art Nouveau villas and elegant townscape. The city is the seat of the Hessian state government, several federal authorities and many companies. Around 560 kilometres separate it from Berlin. Here you can read how the move is organised and what awaits you in Wiesbaden.
Route and two-day planning
The route runs via the A9 and A4 or via the A2 and A7 southwards and then via the A66 to Wiesbaden. With six to seven hours of pure driving time plus breaks, we plan two days. On the first day we load in Berlin; on the second day we set off early and unload in Wiesbaden. Traffic in the Rhine-Main area is heavy, so we avoid rush hours.
Registering at the Bürgerbüro
In Wiesbaden, you register at the city’s Bürgerbüro (citizens’ office). There is a central location and others in the local districts. The deadline is two weeks. If you are moving to Mainz, which lies on the other side of the Rhine in Rhineland-Palatinate, the city of Mainz is responsible.
Hillside locations and villa districts
Wiesbaden lies at the foot of the Taunus, and many residential areas stretch up the slopes. In the Dichterviertel, on the Neroberg and in Sonnenberg there are villas and large period flats. The streets are partly steep and narrow. A large lorry cannot always get right up to the door there. We check the access in advance and use a smaller vehicle if necessary. In the Westend and the city centre, buildings are denser, with period buildings and few parking spaces.
Stylish period buildings with high ceilings
Many of Wiesbaden’s period buildings date from the Gründerzeit and have high ceilings, stucco and parquet. Stairwells are often wide but elaborately designed. We protect banisters, steps and walls with padding material. We transport large furniture such as wardrobes or grand pianos with particular care.
Authorities and official posts
Civil servants or employees of a federal or state authority who are transferred to Wiesbaden are often entitled to reimbursement of moving costs. The office usually requires cost estimates for this. On request, we prepare a detailed quote.
Costs
The costs depend on volume, floors, carrying distances and additional services. Hillside locations with long routes increase the effort. You can find an overview of the factors on our page moving company Berlin costs.
Arriving in Wiesbaden
With the Kurpark, the Neroberg and the Rhine riverside in Biebrich, Wiesbaden offers plenty of places to relax. Buses and the S-Bahn get you around the city and to Frankfurt easily. Many newcomers appreciate the quieter atmosphere compared with Frankfurt, combined with good connections to the entire Rhine-Main area.
If you live in the Biebrich district right on the Rhine, you should expect closed riverside roads during floods. In winter and spring, we therefore check the water levels shortly beforehand so that access is safe.
