The federal state of Bremen consists of two cities: Bremen and Bremerhaven, around 60 kilometres away. If you are moving to Bremerhaven, you have a slightly longer journey ahead of you, usually via the A27. Both are easy for us to reach; we plan the time and route to suit the address.

Registration at the BürgerServiceCenter
In Bremen, you register at one of the BürgerServiceCenter citizens’ offices. The deadline is two weeks. You should book appointments online. Bring your ID and the landlord’s confirmation (Wohnungsgeberbestätigung). If you are moving to Bremerhaven, the city administration there is responsible, as the state of Bremen consists of two cities.
The Altbremer Haus
A Bremen speciality is the Altbremer Haus, a narrow terraced house with two or three floors, often with a semi-basement. These houses are popular but a challenge for removals. The stairs are steep and narrow, the rooms small. Large furniture often only fits in when dismantled, and some pieces do not fit at all. Measure the stairs and doors before the move. The Viertel, Findorff and Schwachhausen
The Viertel, i.e. Ostertor and Steintor, is the lively centre of the city with pubs, shops and period buildings. Findorff is quieter, with many Altbremer houses and a popular weekly market. Schwachhausen is considered upmarket, with large villas and townhouses. The Neustadt on the other side of the Weser is popular with students. Parking in narrow streets
