An expert long-distance move from Berlin to Augsburg — individual and structured

Our services for your long-distance move

We plan your move according to your wishes and the actual scope. Whether a partial move, a complete household or delicate individual items — we discuss in advance which services make sense and which steps we can take on for you.

How your move works

Transparent processes provide security. Before the move we discuss all the details and document the condition of your belongings. On moving day we work systematically so that nothing is forgotten.

  1. Initial consultation and survey: clarify needs and define the service.
  2. Quote and detailed planning: agree dates, material requirements and special requirements.
  3. Packing and preparation: protective measures, dismantling and secure packing.
  4. Transport and unloading: orderly loading, professional securing and unloading at the destination.
  5. Acceptance and feedback: joint inspection and a short debrief.

Packing and protecting your furniture

Safe transport starts with the right packing. We use suitable materials and proven techniques for delicate furniture, lamps or fragile items. On request we take care of all the packing or support you where needed.

Special transports and special items

For pianos, works of art or unusually shaped furniture we develop individual solutions. During the preliminary planning we clarify the scope, the equipment required and the best approach so that everything arrives undamaged.

Planning, dates and communication

Good communication is essential for long-distance moves. You receive clear agreements on dates and advice on which preparations make sense. Throughout the process we keep you informed about the relevant steps so that you always have an overview.

Moving Berlin–Augsburg: a fresh start in Bavarian Swabia

Augsburg is around 590 kilometres from Berlin, west of Munich. The journey usually follows the A9 to the motorway junction near Munich or near Ingolstadt and then continues westwards. As with all destinations in the south, we plan the move over two days: loading in Berlin, overnight stay, unloading in Augsburg.

Augsburg as an alternative to Munich

Many people who work in the Munich region deliberately choose Augsburg. Rents are usually lower, the city is more manageable, and Munich can be reached quickly by train. If you are still undecided between the two cities, we can start planning the move anyway – as soon as the tenancy agreement is signed, we fix the date. Information on moving to the Bavarian capital can be found on the page moving Berlin–Munich.

Residential areas in Augsburg

In the old town and the cathedral quarter there are historic houses with narrow stairwells; in Pfersee, Oberhausen and the Bismarckviertel many period and post-war buildings. In Göggingen, Haunstetten or Hochzoll there are terraced houses, detached houses and newer housing developments. Depending on where you are moving to, we plan more porters or a smaller vehicle for narrow streets.

What the quote includes

  • Staff and vehicle for both days
  • Travel costs including tolls
  • Padding material and load securing
  • Dismantling and reassembling furniture as agreed
  • Additional services such as packing service, kitchen installation or disposal

Each item is listed separately in the quote. General explanations of the costs can be found under moving company Berlin costs.

Packing for the long journey

Over almost 600 kilometres, every box gets moved about. Fill boxes completely so that they do not get crushed when stacked, and pad fragile items well. If you are short of time, our packing service will take on this task.

Arriving

Within two weeks you register at the citizens’ office (Bürgerbüro). Also remember the mail forwarding order and re-registering your vehicle.

Old town, Lechviertel and cathedral quarter

Augsburg’s old town with the Lechviertel is criss-crossed by canals; the alleys are narrow and some are traffic-calmed. A large lorry cannot get everywhere there. In such cases we plan a smaller vehicle for the last stretch or a stopping place on the edge. Check with your landlord whether there are access rules.

Commuting to Munich

Anyone who lives in Augsburg and works in Munich usually commutes by train. For moving day we recommend that you do not have to go to work – on the second day we unload in Augsburg, and you or a trusted person should be on site.

After arrival

On request we take empty boxes and padding material back with us. After assembly we go through the flat together to make sure everything is in its place.

Augsburg: moving to the Fugger city

Augsburg is one of the oldest cities in Germany, known for the Fuggerei, the town hall with its Golden Hall and a lively university. The city lies around 70 kilometres north-west of Munich, which makes it attractive for many commuters. From Berlin it is around 600 kilometres. Here you can read how the move works and what awaits you in Augsburg.

Route via the A9 and the A8

The route follows the A9 towards Munich and then the A8 west to Augsburg. Alternatively, we leave the A9 at Ingolstadt and continue on federal roads. With seven to eight hours of driving time plus breaks, we plan two days. If you are in a hurry, you can book an overnight journey with two drivers.

Registering at the citizens’ office

In Augsburg you register at the city’s citizens’ office (Bürgerbüro). The deadline is two weeks after moving in. If you move to a surrounding municipality such as Friedberg, Königsbrunn or Neusäß, the local municipal administration there is responsible.

Old town and districts

Augsburg’s old town with its canals, narrow alleys and historic houses is charming, but demanding for moves. Delivery times are limited, and large lorries cannot get everywhere. The Antonsviertel and the Bismarckviertel are popular residential areas with period buildings. Göggingen and Pfersee offer quieter locations, while Lechhausen and Hochzoll are popular with families. We plan access based on your exact address.

Commuting to Munich

Many people who move to Augsburg work in Munich. By train it takes only around half an hour, and rents are considerably lower. If you commute like this, look for a flat close to the main station or to a station with good connections.

Costs at a glance

The price for a move to Augsburg is made up of the distance, the team’s working time, volume, floors and additional services. With two moving days, there are overnight costs for the team. If you have few belongings, you can save with a part load. More on this on our page long-distance move Berlin.

Life on the Lech

Augsburg is a green city with the city forest, the river Lech and many parks. You can get around easily by tram and bus. The city’s water management system with canals, water towers and fountains is a UNESCO World Heritage Site and well worth a walk.

Period buildings, post-war buildings and new builds

Augsburg was badly hit in the war, and many houses in the city centre date from the fifties and sixties. They often have narrow stairwells and no lift. In the new quarters, for example on former barracks sites in the south of the city, there are modern flats with lifts and underground car parks. When planning, we ask about the floor and access so that enough helpers are on site and the van can get close to the entrance.

A tip for choosing a date: around the Augsburger Plärrer, the large funfair in spring and late summer, the area around the fairground is very busy. If you live nearby, you should avoid these weeks.
