Your move from Berlin to Nuremberg: structured and reliable
Why Lion Umzüge from Berlin is the right choice
As a Berlin company, we plan and organise long-distance moves with experience and an eye for detail. We develop individual solutions for your living situation and advise you on gentle packing, sensible furniture handling and practical processes. Important: Lion Umzüge is based in Berlin; we do not act as a local moving company in Nuremberg but manage your move from our Berlin location.
Our services – clearly structured and adaptable
We offer a modular range of services geared to your needs. On request, we take care of all the packing, the safe transport of delicate items and the coordination of loading and unloading. Every service is agreed with you in advance so that you know exactly which steps are planned and what you can prepare yourself.
How to prepare your move in the best possible way
Thoughtful preparation reduces effort and avoids delays. Together we determine which furniture needs to be dismantled, which protective materials make sense and how access is organised for loading and unloading. Use the following checklist as a guide to the most important steps:
- Planning meeting: clarify scope, access and special features.
- Packing concept: identify fragile items and large furniture.
- Provision of materials: agree on boxes, padding and protective film.
- Scheduling: set arrival windows and preferred dates.
- Loading and unloading: safe stowing and labelling of the load.
- Handover: check at the destination and final discussion.
Transport, protection and handling of your furniture
During long-distance transport, we make sure that everything is properly secured and gently stored throughout the journey. Delicate furniture and works of art receive additional protection. We plan the loading sequence so that everything can be put back in its place quickly and safely when unloading.

Moving day and personal support
On moving day, dedicated contacts from our team are available to you; they monitor the process and agree any short-notice decisions with you. Thanks to central organisation from Berlin, you keep track of everything at all times without having to deal with every logistical detail yourself.
Follow-up and feedback
After the move, we hold a final review: you give us feedback, and together we check whether everything went to your satisfaction. On request, we help with clearing away packing material later or with minor follow-up work.
FAQ
How is loading planned for long distances?
Loading is planned according to weight, size and fragility. Heavier items are placed at the bottom, fragile items are secured separately and clearly labelled. This keeps the load stable during the journey and accessible for unloading.
Do you also organise interim storage if the moving-in date does not fit?
On request, we discuss suitable solutions for interim storage in the planning meeting and work out an approach for short-term storage so that your move can respond flexibly to changes of date.

How to save when moving from Berlin to Nuremberg
A move over around 440 kilometres costs more than a move within the city – that cannot be avoided. However, how high the final amount turns out to be is to a large extent in your own hands. The biggest levers are the volume of goods, the preparation of the boxes and the choice of date.
Five levers for a cheaper move
- Declutter: every cubic metre less reduces the size of the vehicle and shortens the loading time.
- Pack yourself: if you fill the boxes, you save our team working hours.
- Prepare furniture: wardrobes empty, drawers cleared out, lamps taken down – this speeds up dismantling.
- Choose your date flexibly: dates during the week and in the middle of the month are easier to get than at the end of the month.
- Apply for a no-parking zone in good time: short carrying distances save time and therefore money.
When a part load makes sense
If you only need to take one room or a few pieces of furniture to Nuremberg, a lorry of your own is often not worthwhile. With a part load, your belongings travel on a trip that is heading to the region anyway. In return, you need to be a little more flexible with the date. More on the page part load Berlin.
Living in Nuremberg
Many newcomers initially look in the neighbourhoods close to the city centre such as Gostenhof, St. Johannis or the Nordstadt. These are mainly period buildings and post-war houses, often without a lift. In Fürth and Erlangen, which border directly on Nuremberg, there are also many rented flats. If you do not yet know where you will live permanently, a small interim flat and storage for the rest of your furniture can make sense – see storage Berlin.
What the fixed price includes
Our quote lists every service individually: staff, vehicle, travel costs, furniture assembly, packing material and additional services such as disposal. What is stated there is agreed – there are no additional charges for services included in the quote. If the scope changes, for example because an extra cellar room is added at short notice, we talk to you beforehand. A general explanation of the cost factors can be found under moving company Berlin costs.
Route and process
The journey runs mainly via the A9. For smaller households we can manage the move in one long day; for larger ones we plan two. How we secure the load and what is special about Nuremberg’s old town is described on the page long-distance move Berlin–Nuremberg.
After arrival
You must register at the residents’ registration office within two weeks. Do not forget to give your new address to the Beitragsservice for the broadcasting licence fee and to your car insurance company.

Arriving in Nuremberg: old town, districts and surrounding area
Nuremberg combines a medieval old town with modern industry and services. For many newcomers, the surrounding area is also important, as Fürth and Erlangen form a closely interconnected region with Nuremberg. This page is about settling in. How we plan the transport via the A9 is explained on the page long-distance move Berlin Nuremberg.
Registration at the citizens’ office
In Nuremberg, you register at one of the city’s citizens’ offices (Bürgerämter). The deadline is two weeks. Appointments should be booked online. If you move to Fürth or Erlangen, the respective city administration is responsible.
Living in the old town and in Gostenhof
The old town within the city walls is charming but demanding for removals. Many lanes are narrow, and delivery times are restricted. Gostenhof and St. Johannis west of the old town are popular residential areas with period buildings and good infrastructure. Families often move to Erlenstegen, Mögeldorf or to new developments on the outskirts.
Fürth and Erlangen
Fürth is directly connected to Nuremberg by underground and has a beautiful old town with many listed monuments. Erlangen is a university and medical city with large employers. Many people who move to Nuremberg end up choosing one of these neighbouring towns. For us, this hardly makes a difference when planning – the distances are short.
Costs and planning
A move to Nuremberg usually takes two days. The costs depend on volume, floors and additional services. Our page moving company Berlin costs explains which factors determine the price.
Arriving in Franconia
Nuremberg has a good network of underground trains, trams and buses. The Wöhrder See lake, the Pegnitz meadows and the Reichswald forest offer recreation right on your doorstep. After the move, take time to explore the old town on foot, and do try the Franconian cuisine.
Period buildings, post-war buildings and new builds
Nuremberg was heavily destroyed in the Second World War, so alongside preserved period buildings there are many houses from the 1950s and 1960s. These often have narrow stairwells and no lifts. In new developments such as at Nordostbahnhof or in Langwasser, on the other hand, there are modern flats with lifts. When planning, we ask about the year of construction, floor and access so that we can plan accordingly.
A tip for handing over your flat: in Bavaria it is common for landlords to pay close attention to cosmetic repairs at handover. Clarify in advance what your tenancy agreement says.
